The stars are lining up for us over the hillers.you young guys shoot them bangers while you can! As for me I don't care how dead it is as long as it's dead. My cannon shooting days are about done! I killed a huge doe with my Glock 40 cal a few years ago and she died as dead as any deer shot with a 44. When I retire at 80 I'll be down to shooting skirls with a 22 and catching fishing worms for fishin! What else does an old timer need? I'll look at my old H&R 3" chamber full choke 12 gauge and say, "I member when I used to be able to shoot that thing!" It is what it is and there ain't no use whimpering about it. I figure maul and wedges for a few more years.but I certainly do notice recoil more than even 10 years ago. My dad is pushing 90 and he was running a log splitter all by himself all last week. One thing no one has mentioned is the age factor! I used to be ten foot tall and bulletproof! Let's see then I got a pair of titanium knees, had carpal tunnel surgery on my hands, had surgery on my shooting hand elbow. But I will be the first to say, those Buf bore loads in my Ruger 45 colt kinda scare me. Oh and btw.I used to shoot my SW 629 44mag pretty fast and accurately without feeling much from recoil. But if somebody was to say that I didn't get affected by recoil at that time I'd say they were crazy! My shoulder and arm were black and blue for a week! Not to mention that my head felt like it was about to explode every time I pulled the trigger.lol antics I was barely able to stand there and shoot without falling over! That memory is priceless. in front of you!.get that one!.quick hurry up!, etc. It was all I could do to handle that 12 gauge I was trying to put to my shoulder properly, while the whole time my Dad was making me laugh with his "over there!.right here!. So here I am this fairly little boy, tired, hot and dry, with a bad headache, and the shooting was fast and furious. Next thing we knew the doves were coming in from all over to roost in some trees right there by the truck. When it started to get late and we started to head back to the truck we noticed a few doves coming in over there. We maybe saw but one of those little fighter jets go by before we could even get our guns up. We walked around most the day.it was hot out and I noticed I was getting a headache. When I was a kid my father and I went dove hunting in an old apple orchard that dad had permission to hunt.
